Liam Millar has revealed his loan move to Birmingham City was motivated by a desire to feel wanted and appreciated. The 26-year-old winger said manager Chris Davies's long-standing interest was a key factor in his switch from Hull City on the final day of the summer window.
Speaking on the Blue Rising podcast, Millar explained his decision. "The gaffer (Chris Davies) was very open with me that he’s wanted me for a long time," he said. "I think, this period, I really just wanted to be wanted and I wanted to be appreciated."
He contrasted that with his experience at Hull, where he helped secure promotion to the Premier League last season. "I felt like, at times, that wasn’t the case for me," Millar added. "I think that was a big thing."
Millar has quickly made an impact at St Andrew's, providing three assists in his first three league appearances for the club. His creative contributions are part of a strong start to the campaign that sees Birmingham City sitting 10th in the Championship with 10 points from seven games.
