Birmingham City's upcoming Championship fixture at St Andrew's will kick off one minute later than scheduled to support a life-saving campaign. The game against Leicester City on Saturday, 5 February will now start at 3:01pm as part of the Football League's Every Minute Matters initiative.
League-wide support
All EFL matches across the Championship, League One and League Two that weekend will begin one minute late. Thirty-six fixtures are involved in the push to raise awareness of CPR and support the British Heart Foundation. The campaign aims to get half a million people to learn the lifesaving skill by the end of February, and over 400,000 have already used the BHF's RevivR training tool.
Leicester City confirmed their involvement, stating, "We’ll be supporting the Every Minute Matters campaign in February." Their first-team and academy players recently received CPR training from the charity Heartwize at their training ground, with the squad afterwards deciding to fund new defibrillators for the organisation.
For Birmingham, the adjusted schedule comes as they sit 10th in the Championship table with 10 points from seven games. They head into the international break on the back of a 2-1 win at Derby, with goals from Carlos Vicente and Paik Seung-Ho.
The focus now turns to their next Championship assignment, a home game against high-flying Middlesbrough on Saturday, 19 September. Tony Mowbray's side currently occupy third place, making it a significant test at St Andrew's. Patrick Roberts remains the only confirmed absentee for that fixture, with the full squad list available on our squad page. The Blues will be looking to improve on their last meeting with Boro, a 3-1 home defeat back in March.
