A New Era for Visually Impaired Fans
Birmingham City's Audio Descriptive Commentary system has revolutionized the match experience for visually impaired fans. The innovative technology allows fans to fully understand and engage with the game, despite their visual impairment.
A Partnership with Alan March Sport
The Blues partnered with Alan March Sport to introduce the Audio Descriptive Commentary system in December last year. The system has since received rave reviews from supporters and has opened up entirely new opportunities for fans.
A Personal Story of Triumph
For George, a visually impaired season ticket holder, the Audio Descriptive Commentary system has been a game-changer. George's mum said, "George was a very premature baby, born with many health problems at just 27 weeks and five days, and experienced a bleed on the brain which caused his left hemiplegic cerebral palsy and visual impairment. Despite this, we are absolutely delighted that he can experience his hobby in the same way as a fully sighted spectator would."
The Power of Audio Descriptive Commentary
Audio Descriptive Commentator Tom Heslop feels deeply responsible for ensuring his passion carries beyond the microphone. "You're doing the job for them," Heslop said of his listeners. "You're one of the main reasons why they've come to the match and you are going to provide them with their sole source of entertainment and transparency throughout the game."
League Standing: 15th in Championship, 1 pts, 0W-1D-0L from 1 games, recent form D.
The system has been a huge success, and the Blues are committed to continuing to innovate and improve the experience for all fans. With the Audio Descriptive Commentary system in place, visually impaired fans can now fully engage with the game and enjoy the match in the same way as fully sighted spectators.
Title Race: 2 points behind leaders QPR.
The system has also opened up new opportunities for fans, and the Blues are excited to see how it will continue to evolve and improve the match experience for all fans.
